Report to all River Ward Community Associations
7 June 2004
The Sawmill Creek Subwatershed Project is well underway. I anticipate that the public meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2004, however we are still confirming the details. I will be in touch as soon as the date, time and location have been set. I have asked staff to provide me with a written update which I will forward once I receive it.
I am looking forward to meeting people at the summer festivals in the ward. I participated in the clean-up of McCarthy Woods and I am pleased to report that it was a very productive and successful initiative. We will continue this tradition next year.
I am hosting an Open house on Tuesday, October 5th,,2004, from 7 – 9pm at the Hunt Club/Riverside Community Centre. The HCCO is welcome to have a kiosk and to sell memberships at the event.
Dialogue regarding the Southern Corridor is ongoing and I hope to be in a position to report back to you in the near future.
Vampire Drive is located on the former Uplands Military Base. It is proposed to be host to two new ice rinks.
The Victoria Day fireworks were a success once again this year. I was pleased to have been the emcee for the event. The Victoria Day fireworks Committee is looking for volunteers for next year. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact my office.
The minutes for the HCCO’s May 3rd meeting do not reflect the regrets sent in by my office that I would be late for the meeting that evening. I was in attendance at another community association meeting prior to the HCCO meeting.
My office is open all summer, so please do not hesitate to keep in contact and to bring any questions or concerns to my attention.
I am looking forward to seeing you in the Fall.
